The Secretary gave a verbal account of a paper by Mr. Alex. Purdie, M.A., “On the Anatomy of the Sea Mussel (Mytilus latus).”

“Description of a new Species of Carmichælia, with Notes on the Distribution of the Species native to Otago,” by D. Petrie. (Transactions, p. 272.)

The Secretary exhibited and made remarks upon—a. Some stuffed fishes (glycerine process), and skeletons of Skate and Torpedo (glycerine jelly process). b. Embryos of Sepiola sp., found in Dunedin Harbour by F. Bourne, one of the Museum assistants. Hitherto this genus has only been recorded in the colony at Wellington (S. pacifica, T. W. Kirk). c. A living specimen of the Laughing Owl (Sceloglaux albifacies), obtained at Outram by Mr. Sydney Fulton.
