Arising Out of Report.

Abstracts.—There was some discussion on the nature of the abstracts to be included in the Transactions, and the method of abstracting, and certain points raised by members were dealt with by the President.

Library.—On the motion of the Hon. G. M. Thomson, seconded by Dr. Cockayne, it was resolved: “That this meeting of the Board of Governors is of opinion that in the new Dominion Museum to be built at Mt. Cook, Wellington, provision should be made for the permanent housing of the New Zealand Institute, and that this matter be left in the hands of the Standing Committee to deal with.

On the motion of Dr. Farr, seconded by Dr. Cockayne, it was resolved that Mr. H. T. Ferrar be cordially thanked for his valuable donation of the British Association for the Advancement of Science Reports.

Date of Annual Meeting.—It was resolved that a deputation to the Prime Minister be arranged, and that the Hon. Minister of Internal Affairs be asked to attend, with a view to having the New Zealand Institute Act amended to allow of the date of the Annual Meeting being altered, to have the Finance Clause reinstated in the Act, and other necessary amendments, and that at the same time an effort be made to have the debt to the Government Printer wiped out or considerably reduced.

Marine Department.—The Hon. G. M. Thomson stated that the Marine Department should be asked to supply copies of its annual report for distribution to members of the Board.

Pacific Science Congress.—It was resolved that the appointment of delegates to the Fourth Pacific Science Congress be left in the hands of the Standing Committee.

Levy.—On the motion of Professor Worley, seconded by Dr. Cockayne, it was resolved that the levy for Volume 59 be 5/-.
