Affinities

Lissopimpla excelsa is the genotype (=L. octoguttata); it occurs in Australia, Tasmania, and the Kermadec Islands as well as New Zealand. From an examination of several Australian specimens as well as the two females from the Kermadec Islands, there is no doubt that these forms are co-specific.
